Idea

I have a strong passion for my dreams, fantasies, and my future. Particularly, Stage Design provokes my passion greatly. The designs of this genre deal with a lot of atypical objects and substances. Such characteristics of this genre have a focused emphasis on visual stimulation. I have always been very intrigued by this aspect, which has led me to focus on visual emphasis. I have initiated my work based on my attachment for dreams and fantasies which cannot be realised in our reality. However, they could come true in a virtual reality, which we might not be aware of but it may well exist. What if the virtual reality existed somewhere in our reality and in that virtual reality, two concepts of time and space coexist? This is the question that led to the foundation of my work. In order to embody this work, a research into some examples is required, including films and other forms of performing arts and so on, which illustrate the idea of the coexistence of the two realms of reality. For example, there are films such as Matrix and The Truman Show. The Truman Show tells the audiences that Truman’s life that was believed to be real is a lie and his friends and parents have all been constructed for the outside world. His life is merely a material created to entertain the greater realm of reality. How could I incorporate this concept into my work and approach my audiences with this idea? I plant to use a wide range of methods and establish this concept through various stages of production.

Climate change

Situation

Recently, the summer has started to come earlier than the previous year and the temperature has risen, because of the global waning. The ozone layers protect our earth from many kinds of harmful factors, but the ozone layers have gradually become thinner, as the modern society developed rapidly and we began destroying our environment indiscriminately. We are increasingly using substances that are harmful to the earth, including many throwaway supplies and many factories belch up injurious smoke. These kinds of activities are continuing to pollute our environment and its natural habitat. One of the main examples of this affect is the North Pole. The North Pole is facing serious problems, one of which is that its ice is melting rapidly, which meant that many animals are suffering, especially polar bears. Nowadays their number is decreasing more and more also the government had to designate the polar bears as protected specie, because they can no longer survive naturally. It is not only the polar bears that are facing problems. This could lead to a situation where we humans may share the same fate one day. Therefore, we humans must now realise that the climate change is a big and real problem and we need to protect our environment.

Our point & Practice

We have discussed among ourselves on how we can illustrate the climate change. We have already decided to focus on the situation in the North Pole, and we aimed to show how its ice is melting as well as the fact that the environment as a whole has become polluted. Also we decided to use shadow puppets to create the dynamic element to the illustration. In order to create this scene, first we created a fishbowl which is transparent and in a square box shape. We then placed this bowl on a beam projector and then we poured some clear water into the bowl. This has created the ice melting effect and to add the element of pollution, we added some colour ink and black ink into the bowl, which made the water unclear to demonstrate the pollution. Secondly, we needed a few shadow puppets, which we have made – small fish, animals and humans and so forth. These kinds of images indicate that humans and other elements of the nature are living on the earth together. Thirdly we wanted to show our earth itself, so we are now in the process of designing a simple earth model. We will use this image in the background. This will enhance the effect of the image we are aiming to create.

STANDING NUDE GIRL(1910)

Egon Schiele (1890-1918)
Today, I would like to talk about Egon Schiele. He was a famous artist in the world and as an art student, I admire his work. When I saw his drawing for the first time, I was shocked because he expressed women’s body explicitly. So sometimes when I examine his work, I feel embarrassed. However, his drawing is really beautiful and strong, so his works often brings huge impressions on me. The title of this drawing is ''Standing Nude Girl''. It has been painted in 1910. It is one of my favourite drawings, because this drawing imposes a feeling of irony. The young girl in this picture looks very pure, and yet she is not wearing anything and appears exotic, which provokes sexual feelings of the audiences. Now I would like to briefly explain about Schiele. He was born in Tull on the Danube. As a child, he had a talent in art, so he decided to study art. Later on in his life, he met Klimt Gustar, who influenced Shiele’s work. Gustar usually drew portraits of others or himself and his pictures are also usually erotic and sexual.
